Magic Mission Donates $254,755 to Greece

On Sunday afternoon, November 9, 2014, the M.A.G.I.C. Mission held its annual luncheon and fundraiser at the Hellenic Community Centre in the presence of the Honourable Mr. Nicolas Sigalas, Consul General of Greece in Montreal and Mrs. Sigalas.

M.A.G.I.C. Mission is an organization dedicated to ensuring that children in need have the basic supplies and food needed to thrive, in spite of their circumstances.  M.A.G.I.C. stands for Mission to Aid Greek Institutions helping Children.  M.A.G.I.C. Mission has gifted more than $254,755 in foods and goods to nineteen different children’s organizations and charities in Greece to date.

Also present at the event were the Reverend Father Panagiotis Salatellis, Parish Priest of Saint-George Cathedral, Mtre Demetrius Manolakos, Honourary President of the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal and Archon Notarios of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, Mr. Nicholas T. Pagonis, President of the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal, Mr. Basil Papaevagelou, RBC Wealth Management and Founding Member of McGill Fundraising Committee for Phrixos B. Papachristidis Chair in Modern Greek and Greek-Canadian Studies, Mr. Andreas Crillis, Executive Vice-President of the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal, Mtre James D. Smirnios, Legal Counsel and Member of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan Council of Toronto Canada, Mr. Peter Prassas, City Councillor of the City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Dr. Kenneth N. Matziorinis, President of the Canadian Order of Ahepa, Dr. Michael Païdoussis, Honourary Consul of Cyprus and his spouse Mrs. Vrisiida Mavrou-Païdoussis, Founder and President of the M.A.G.I.C. Mission.

A wonderful meal complete with a traditional Greek walnut pie and mountain tea was served by the Community’s Maître D’ Pantelis Papamichalopoulos and with entertainment by the ever popular Nick Anastasiou and Eleni Filandrianou.
